We receive hard drives from all over the world. Below are a few tips to make sure your hard drive arrives as safely as possible.
- Bare hard drives should ideally be sealed into antistatic / ESD bags. Most people don’t have these at home, so we often suggest placing the drive into a zipped freezer bag to prevent any moisture getting into the drive during transit.
- The drive should then be sandwiched between foam, or wrapped in bubble wrap to absorb any minor shocks.
- Then the whole thing should go into a strong box. You don’t want the drive to touch the edges of the box so make sure there is plenty of padding on all sides. The hard drive should not move about when the box is closed. We strongly advise against sending hard drives in padded bags as they offer very little impact protection.
- Don’t forget to include a completed shipping form(check your email) so we can identify the parcel when it arrives. Also be sure to select which service is required, otherwise there may be a delay in processing your drive.
Getting it To us
We usually suggest sending your parcel by courier or through a Post Office. Royal Mail have a number of ways to send parcels from home.
