Hitachi Hard Disk Recovery Details
If you decide to use our service to get your data recovered, we will ask some questions by phone or e-mail about how the failure happened. You don’t need to be an IT expert to answer these questions, but it may help us get an idea about what went wrong. We can then send a job number and shipping form, so you can get the disk booked in for a diagnosis.
Once your disk arrives we note the model & serial numbers into our system and let you know that we have started work. We carry out a quick visual inspection to make sure the warranty seals have not been damaged. We also check that the outside cover screws have not been removed.
We will carry out an external diagnosis to find & repair any faults with the drive. These could be things like electronic damage, firmware corruption and partition damage. If recovery is possible within our first stage, skip to Completion. If not see Stage 2 below.
If we have not been able to access your data within Stage 1, we will recommend our Stage 2 cleanroom process. You can either cancel the recovery at this point, or move to Stage 2. In Stage 2 we will take your disk into our cleanroom for internal examination & repair. This could involve new heads, motor, or a combination.
We will get back to you with a list of the recovered files & folders to confirm success. We can talk through the data with you by phone if you prefer.
