Data recovery.
Hard disk data recovery is the core of our business. We have been recovering data from macs and pcs all the way back to the early '90s. You can rest assured that our highly skilled team are very familiar with all types of hard disk failure.
Operating systems supported.
Aside from the usual recovery from Windows XP, Windows Vista and Mac OS X volumes we can also recover data from legacy and unusual operating systems such as MS-DOS, OS/2 Warp, Windows 95, Windows NT, Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows ME, Windows Millennium, Windows NT 4.0 Server, Windows 2000 Server, Windows Server 2003, Mac OS 6, 7, 8 & 9, Mac OS Server, Linux and Unix.
Hard disk formats and partition types.
We regularly recover data from NTFS, HFS+ and FAT32 volumes but can also recover data from less common partition formats such as FAT, FAT16, Ext2FS, Ext3FS, UFS, HFS, ReiserFS and many others.
Machines and hardware.
Any device with an internal or external hard disk drive can be recovered. From laptop, desktop and server systems to iPods and other DAPs or digital audio players. We have even recovered systems that control CNC milling machines and other proprietary robot type machines.
Drives and media.
We tend to see internal and external hard disk drives most regularly. We have recovered data successfully from Maxtor, Seagate, Samsung, Hitachi, IBM, Fujitsu, Toshiba, Conner, Western Digital and Quantum internal hard disks.
We have also recovered from external hard disks manufactured by Maxtor, Seagate, Western Digital, LaCie, Philips, Buffalo, EZQuest and others.
Failure modes and types.
Most of the drives we receive have become defective in one way or another. This is not always the fault of the user but merely something that can just happen. Sometimes a partition can become corrupt and unreadable or suffer some bad sectors. Sometimes, errors in the manufacturers system area can prevent you from accessing your data. Another common cause for data recovery is when data is accidentally deleted or a hard disk drive is reformatted by mistake. This gives the impression that the data is lost, however it can be recovered if handled correctly. The sensitive electronic components of a hard disk drive can also get damaged by power surges or spikes without the rest of the computer failing at all.
Disaster.
We also recover data from natural disasters such as floods and fires, as well as drives that have been submerged in sea water for a period of time. Contrary to popular belief, most hard disk drives are not air-tight and feature a small breather hole somewhere on the cover to allow for changes in air pressure.
